About
Biography
I am a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon in Seattle. I develop production machine learning systems for search relevance and recommendation, and I conduct research in language model inference, text classification, privacy, distribution shifts, and statistical learning.
My research has appeared at NeurIPS, TMLR, EMNLP, AISTATS, ACL, KDD, WWW, ICIS, Bioinformatics, Econometrics and Statistics, Scientific Reports, and SN Computer Science. My 2025 EMNLP paper on generative and discriminative text classification received an Outstanding Paper Award.

I contributed relaxed speculative decoding to HuggingFace transformers. The merged implementation makes the method available through the assistant_ensemble_weight generation argument.
I also created and maintain statistical computing packages, including Mixture Models for Python and quadmatrix for R.
Professional service
I chaired the Resources and Evaluation track at EMNLP 2025 and served on the program committee for ICIS 2021. I have reviewed for NeurIPS, AISTATS, EMNLP, Biometrika, the Journal of Statistical Software, Econometrics and Statistics, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, the Journal of Computational Statistics, and Scientific Reports.
